Description
Puhoi Organic Distillery’s Dry Gin is infused with the relaxed homely atmosphere of the Puhoi Historical Bohemian Village.
This bespoke Dry Gin delights the senses with the subtle yet recognizable exotic notes not found in other gins: Manuka flowers, feijoa blossom and other botanicals grown in the spray-free Puhoi valley.
This Dry Gin is handcrafted in small batches of (no more than 100 litres per batch) without any haste using Kirichuk family’s original technologies that were perfected during many years of experiments.
All the gin production stages starting from distillation and finishing with the bottling and labelling happen here, up the hill from the Puhoi Pub – at the solar-powered Puhoi Organic Distillery.
The unique soft untreated water used for Dry Gin comes from a deep artesian bore which belongs to the Puhoi Organic Distillery.
Puhoi Organic Distillery’s team endeavours to use as many locally grown Puhoi Valley botanicals as possible. Some of them can only be found in Puhoi area. For example, one of the most attractive Dry Gin notes is taken from the unique New Zealand variety of grapefruit. Fortunately, the very first and the only fully certified organic orchard which grows this variety of grapefruit is located in Puhoi Valley – on the land of Lothlorien Winery. Once a year, during the harvest season, Kirichuk family team hand-zest the selected grapefruits right on the spot at Lothlorien orchard.
The main ingredient of any gin is juniper berries. Unfortunately, juniper berries are not produced in New Zealand yet. Only Croatian and Macedonian certified organic juniper berries are used – as they are the best (and the most expensive) in the world.
The selection of botanicals is extremely important for any gin. What makes Dry Gin different is application of the top-quality alcohol with no harmful impurities. The purification production phase is both time-consuming and labour-intensive, and is achieved using the natural absorbents.
Puhoi Organic Distillery is the only distillery in the world utilizing the ‘True Gravity Flow’ technology. So why does gravity play such an important role in the distilling process? It is because pumping against gravitational forces is known to negatively influence/break the molecular structure of liquids. There are no pumps at Puhoi Organic Distillery! All liquid movements during the distillation process are achieved using natural gravitation forces only.
Upon completion of the distillation process, the new Dry Gin batch is left to “rest” in a glass vessel for at least three weeks. This allows for the alcohol structure to stabilize and to form the desired molecular clusters.
This artisanal Dry Gin is influenced exclusively by botanicals – no essences, oils or flavourings added. Pure gin – no sugar added.
Yours truly,
Alex Kirichuk
